Waiver for Adirondack Ice Bowl
Adirondack Ice Bowl 2026 Volunteer Liability Waiver and Release Agreement
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. THIS IS A LEGAL DOCUMENT AFFECTING YOUR RIGHTS.
In consideration of being permitted to volunteer my time and services to the Adirondack Ice Bowl, LLC (the "Organization"), in connection with the Adirondack Ice Bowl Tournament (the "Event") scheduled for February 20-21, 2026, I, the undersigned Volunteer, hereby agree to the following Waiver and Release:
1. Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risk
I understand and acknowledge that volunteering for a pond hockey tournament is an inherently strenuous and hazardous activity, particularly when conducted outdoors on a natural frozen body of water. I recognize that the environment and activities involve known and unanticipated risks, including but not limited to:
Environmental Risks: Exposure to extreme cold, wind, ice, snow, and other harsh weather conditions that may lead to frostbite, hypothermia, slips, falls, or other injuries.
Physical Risks: Injuries resulting from working on uneven, slippery, or compromised ice surfaces; muscular strains or injuries from physical labor (e.g., ice maintenance, setting up tents, carrying equipment); and injuries sustained while working around heavy equipment or moving vehicles (e.g., Zamboni/ice resurfacer).
Event Risks: Injuries resulting from flying hockey pucks, errant sticks, collisions with players or spectators, and other hazards associated with proximity to a competitive athletic event.
I confirm that my participation as a volunteer is entirely voluntary. I am physically and mentally capable of performing the tasks required of my volunteer role. I fully understand the inherent dangers and voluntarily assume all risks, both known and unknown, associated with my participation in the Event.
2. Release of Liability and Indemnification
In consideration of being allowed to participate as a volunteer, and to the fullest extent permitted by New York State law, I, on behalf of myself, my personal representatives, heirs, executors, administrators, next of kin, and assigns, hereby WAIVE, RELEASE, DISCHARGE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE the Released Parties (defined below) from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, or expenses, including but not limited to those resulting from injury, death, property damage, or loss that may arise out of my volunteering activities.
This Release includes claims arising from the ordinary negligence of the Released Parties. I understand that this release is not intended to cover acts of gross negligence or willful misconduct, which cannot be waived under New York State law.
Released Parties include: Adirondack Ice Bowl, LLC, its subsidiaries, all 2026 Adirondack Ice Bowl Sponsors, Eagle Bay Village, the Village of Eagle Bay, the Town of Inlet, and all of their respective members, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, or any other representatives.
I further agree to INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS the Released Parties from any loss, liability, damage, or cost they may incur arising out of my participation in the Event.
3. Rewards and Compensation Acknowledgment
I acknowledge that any volunteer incentives, rewards, gifts (including merchandise, raffle entries, or invitations), or gift cards received are tokens of appreciation and are not considered financial wages or employment compensation for the purposes of this Waiver or any employment law. I confirm that I am not an employee or agent of the Organization.
4. Media Release and Image Rights
I grant the Organization and the Released Parties the irrevocable right and permission to use, publish, and copyright my name, voice, image, likeness, and any photographs, video, or audio recordings taken of me while volunteering at the Event, for any lawful promotional, marketing, or publicity purpose, without any further compensation or review. I understand that I will not receive payment for the use of my image or likeness.
5. Governing Law and Severability
I agree that this Waiver shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York. If any portion of this Waiver is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
